Now in its 15th year, Elle Fashion Week has become a staple fashion event for Bangkok, and this year it is bringing fashion sensations to a new level.
Elle Fashion Week 2013 Spring/Summer will be the event's first step out of the usual white tent and into hotspots of Bangkok. The fashion shows, which runs from March 13 to 16, will take place at Scala Theatre, Lumpini Hall at Lumphini Park, and W Hotel Bangkok, to stay true to this year's concept "Bangkok Is Your Runway", spreading the fashion phenomenon all over the city.
Post International Media managing director Sirimon Na Nagara said that Elle magazine is making numerous changes this year, and Elle Fashion Week will also be different. Usually held in the autumn/winter bracket, this year the event will be held twice to increase opportunities and exposure to the participating Thai designers.

"Additionally, this year there will be members of the international press and buyers, such as Barney's, Galleries Lafayette, Selfridges, Liberty UK, Elle Japan, Marie Claire Korea, WWD Japan and H Lorenzo, invited by the Department of International Trade Promotion to witness this sensational fashion event.
"While I must humbly say that Elle Fashion Week cannot be compared to global events like Paris Fashion Week, it is a crucial platform for Thai designers to gain more recognition in the local and international levels," said Sirimon.
The message that Elle magazine wants to convey through this event, Sirimon said, is that every woman should find her own style and they can take inspiration from the latest fashion trends.
"Our concept is 'Bangkok Is Your Runway', so what we are trying to say is that if you feel confident with what you are wearing, every step out of your home is like strutting on the fashion runway."
Panu Sombatyanuchit, Elle magazine's new editor, said that everyone has a style, but fashion can provide inspiration to develop something more distinctive. "This is what Elle is all about _ something tangibly stylish and fun. We want fashion to be an accessible realm for everyone," Panu added.
Ten top-notch Thai brands are participating this year - Greyhound, Something Boudoir, Issue, Asava, Senada, Curated by Ek Thongprasert, Kloset, Tu'i, Munchu's and Vickteerut.
At the press conference, 10 models, representing each of the brands, wowed the audience with a far-from-ordinary fashion show, and the attempt to convey the message definitely deserved applause. The models went unnoticed seated among the audience, and stood up to walk one by one when the spotlight shone on them, accompanied by a refreshingly upbeat version of Krungthep Mahanakorn.
Be a part of this new chapter of Thailand's fashion history at Elle Fashion Week 2013 Spring/Summer, starting on March 13 at Scala Theatre with Greyhound's show as the curtain raiser. The shows on March 14 and 15 will take place at Lumpini Hall at Lumphini Park, and the final day of the event will feature Vickteerut's show at W Bangkok Hotel.
