Over 1,000 runners joined the Bangkok Post Mini Marathon 2009 being held on June 14 which saw four international winners and two from Thailand in the six categories.
The event was chaired by Bangkok Governor M.R.SukhumbhandParibatra who confirmed the city’s commitment
to support activities which promote good health amongst the public.
Winning the10km male event (under 39 years) was Noah Kipkoech Cheseret from Kenya, while Andrew Wyatt, a
New Zealand citizen who lives in KhonKaen, triumphed in the over 40s race.
The 10km female (under 34 years) event was won by Gladys Cheruiyot, also from Kenya. Coming in first in the
over 34 race was Thailand’s Chutimon Riddet.
Thai youngster Wanat Sampaongen won the 5km male event, while the female winner was Fumie Wake, a
Japanese employee at Mitsui Oil.
The Bangkok Post, in co-operation with many supporters, organized this event to raise funds to support the education of needy children underthe Bangkok Post Foundation.

“Thailand Takeoff 2018 Vision” was presented by an economic dream team, comprising: Dr. Somkid Jatusripitak, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Sonthirat Sonthi-Jirawong, Minister of Commerce; Mr. Uttam Sawangnai, Minister of Industry; Mr. Apisak Tantivorawong, Minister of Finance, and; Mr. Krisada Bunrach, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
