The most popular column once again proved to be Tuesday’s “Translate It”, which helps interested readers learn to accurately translate English texts into Thai.
In the year 2000, Educational Services completed the fourth full-year of its award-winning Improving Your English with the Bangkok Post programme. The programme consists of a series of weekly columns in the classified section. The most popular column once again proved to be Tuesday's Translate It, which helps interested readers learn to accurately translate English texts into Thai. The column has also built a very loyal audience on the Internet, especially among foreigners learning Thai.

Other columns include: (1) Feature Focus on Wednesday, which gives readers assistance with the feature style of writing, (2) About Business on Thursday, which is devoted to current topics in business, (3) What's News, also on Thursday, which brings readers up-to-date with developing news stories and (4) Friday's Post Tips, a complete lesson for schools.

The department's Internet web site underwent a complete face-lift in April 2000, and by the end of the year, traffic to the site was up almost 50 per cent. One reason was the introduction of a popular Internet-only feature, entitled Words in the News. It also received considerable interest from newspaper-in-education programmes in the United States.

In 2000, the department continued its active schedule of workshops and seminars for the academic community. Once again, its educational specialists conducted numerous workshops for teachers and students, and maintained an active seminar schedule.

One little-known public relations function of the department is offering solutions to language problems, particularly involving the translation of Thai terms into English. This is an everyday occurrence and many readers use these services quite frequently.
