A major reason for the success of the year 2000 was the close cooperation between all sections. Advertising Sales, Bulk Sales & Subscriptions, Editorial, Educational Services and Production, all worked closely together and coordinated their efforts to act in unison.
Editorially and marketing-wise, the year 2000 was a very busy and successful one for Bangkok Post Student Weekly (BPSW). More is planned for the coming year 2001, as the paper embarked on continuous editorial improvement to make the BPSW both entertaining and educational.

A conversation column was introduced to help students with English conversation. University Entrance Examination Tips found an enthusiastic following among upper secondary school students. A Find the Deliberate Mistakes column drew a howl of protests when it was stopped for the duration of the holidays. Beauty Tips was welcomed by female students.

The Student Weekly Club had a very successful year, with English camps organised in Lampang and Phuket. An Adventure Camp in Khao Cha-ngoke in Nakhon Nayok also met with an enthusiastic response from club members. As part of a social service, the club organised a Friends Help Friends club meeting to raise money for impoverished students. A Family Rally in August drew a rave response from all who took part.

The Ovaltine Story-writing Contest again attracted more than 3,000 entries, and now promises to be turned into a permanent annual event.

The Student of the Year contest continued to draw top entries from all over the country, with the overall winner awarded a study trip to England. Regional winners each won a trip to Singapore. The extremely high standard of entries continuously impressed the judges.

Another highly popular activity introduced in 2000 was Meet and Greet, where Student Weekly Club members enter a contest to get to meet a visiting foreign star, then allow Student Weekly reporters an interview.

Student Weekly seminars were held for teachers, in the provinces as well as in Bangkok. More and more in-school activities allowed Student Weekly teams to organise activities and meet students and teachers alike.

The BPSW web site went from strength to strength and attracted a large number of visitors, both from Thailand and overseas. Check it out at:
