The Post's Human Resources Department (HR) plays an active role in supporting the company through a variety of activities.

One of its most important responsibilities is to effectively manage the processes of recruitment, training and development of personnel.

The Training and Development Section of HR is tightly focused on upgrading staff knowledge and skills through a wide range of specialised courses. The first task of the section is to set effective and measurable work goals to be achieved by each course, and also support career plan for further growth opportunities. Course topics range from developing sales, negotiation and presentation skills to learning about integrated marketing communications and different approaches to creativity.

Another responsibility of the Training and Development Section is to arrange tours of the Post's facilities for school and university students with an interest in journalism, printing and publishing.

HR also makes significant contributions to the development of the company's business strategies. It achieves this through such means as using proven tools that enable efficient and effective manpower planning and recruitment. As a result of implementing these tools, the recruitment process is smoother and more supportive of the company. Thus the company is better equipped to find qualified staff to fill vacancies and enable it to continue to grow and develop.

The HR Department is also responsible for coordinating various annual religious ceremonies on behalf of the company and a full programme of recreational activities for the staff.

For example, to commemorate the founding of the Bangkok Post, which is celebrated every year on 1 August, in 2005, HR arranged a special tam boon tak bart meritmaking ceremony held in the early morning. Later in the day, a special donation of candles was made to monks at Wat Khlong Toei Nai to mark Buddhist Lent.

HR also hosted another successful Family Day trip, this time to Phrarajnives Marugadayawan in Phetchaburi Province, thus presenting the opportunity for management, staff and their families to have a fun and relaxing time together.

In another annual event, HR hosted a farewell party to thank retiring employees and present long-service awards to those who have clocked 25 years working for the Post.

Finally, Post staff and management celebrated another successful year at the company's annual New Year party, also organised by HR.
